Robyn McCall is the protagonist character on The Equalizer, also leading undercover and former CIA Operative who acts as a street vigilante for justice. She is played by Queen Latifah.
Biography[]
Robyn grew up with a loving and wise father as a child. It was not until one day after her father lost his life, Robyn became lead astray. The judge saw Robyn more than she is and gave her an opportunity to clean her act up. Robyn later joined the army and the CIA where she was mentored by William Bishop. During the CIA days, she crossed paths with Melody Bayani, Harry Keshegian, Mason Quinn, and Jessie Cook (a.k.a. The Worm).
In one mission, she met her future husband, Miles Fulton. She married him and had a child with him whom they named her Delilah Fulton. Because of Robyn's constant travels, they divorced with both of them having joint custody over Deliah. Robyn has a mysterious past and to her friends is known only as a single mother living a normal life, but to the few she trusts she is the Equalizer, a vigilante helping those in need.
Season 1[]
In first episode, Robyn initially meets with her old mentor, William Bishop at the Coney Island Wonder Wheel. Bishop wants Robyn to come work for him in private security that she has retired from The Company (she's spent the past few years pretending to work for a charity to explain her trips across the globe). We don't know exactly what happened to Robyn at The Company, but she claims the last mission traumatized her. For Robyn, itās not the things sheās done that unsettle her, but the people she canāt save.
In third episode, Robyn was worried about her daughter. Her daughter Delilah used to be best friends with Jasmine and the two girls were grew to especially be close after Delilah's parents went through a divorce. However, things now seem to be different. The girls ignored each other in front of school and McCall doesn't know why. Her daughter didnāt tell her that there was a problem between her and Jasmine. Jasmine still greeted McCall like she normally would.
In fourth episode, Robyn lets herself into Malcolmās apartment. She sees a footprint on the wall that doesnāt make sense. She looks at his shoes. She heads to share the site with Melody and Harry. They all start digging. This is starting to look gang-related. Robyn heads to the streets and pays a visit to a local street gang. She asks about Malcolm as they continue to try and intimidate her. They pull their guns. She pulls her pretend gun. They laugh until everything she points at explodes. Thanks to Melody from a distance shooting, they all freak out and run. Robyn gets a disturbing call. She heads to find Charlie. He admits he was working against Malcolm by swaying people to move out of the neighborhoods for a rich developer.
